Outline for powertool Storyline module which I generated from client content.

90-page Design Document for entire care worker curriculum. This was a team effort, but I spent several weeks arranging ELOs and then developing and writing the activities for large sections of the curriculum.
|
Powertool module Storyboard I wrote, including VO script and planned image / videos.
|
Video Script I wrote, this one using stock videos/images, including VO.

Support Documents
Several such printed books were created as a variation of the learner guide. In addition to writing large portions of this material, I also designed several of the icons in Adobe Illustrator.
|
Powerpoint presentation for use in classrooms during care worker training. We built presentations on dozens of topics, then merged them into decks for each day of class. Videos + stills from video shoots were used in each presentation.

CASE STUDY: Video Production Misalignment - 2021, SEIU 775
I was managing the production of numerous training exercise videos for home care workers. We had just written scripts based on older videos + direction from the Competency Department, who had a policy of not consulting facilitators. As we began shooting videos with facilitators as actors, they found numerous misalignments with both state codes and best practices for training. The Competency Department was firm that their information was correct, but the facilitators - all veteran care workers who'd been training learners to pass the state exam for years - disagreed. I asked my supervisor if we could push back and appeal to leadership to allow consultation with the facilitators as SMEs, and rewrite the scripts. Leadership agreed and video shooting was paused. We hosted numerous meetings with facilitators, walking through the scripts and existing video footage, noting misalignments. After revising scripts, we supervised video shoots via Zoom, to ensure alignment was maintained. The reshot videos were considered by facilitators to be in alignment with all codes, more instructive to learners, and more valuable as teaching tools to facilitators. |
Ideation Tools
When brainstorming the flow of a piece of training, I like to map it out as a narrative on a big markerboard, making needed changes as I draw.

Later, I realized I wanted the ability to quickly rearrange steps in a course, revealing the process tree, much like UI designers do for a software interface.
I cut out dozens of plastic chips for use with dry-erase markers. |
